Walking Weekend 2007

Last year's walking weekend took place at the beginning of October and was based, like the previous year's, at the White Hart, Ford.  We had good walking weather and most of us had a short informal walk on the Friday before a very fine dinner.

For the Saturday morning walk, we followed a similar route as last year to Biddestone where we enjoyed a sandwich and a pint or two at The White Horse.  In the afternoon, we returned to Ford via a different route, by way of a change.  The route was more different for some than others as we seemed inadvertently to have split into two groups!  Those of us lucky enough to return first caught the last half hour of England 's famous defeat of the Australians at the rugby world cup!  On Saturday evening we ate another splendid dinner and the more outgoing of us did a 'turn' afterwards.  Victor impressed us all with his morris dancing skills!

On the Sunday, as in the previous year, we walked up the hill to Castle Combe.  This time, there was no meeting on at Castle Combe circuit, so we avoided the continual roar of motor bike engines which accompanied last year's walk.

All-in-all a thoroughly good weekend was had once again.
